The origins in which one begins collecting books are different for everyone. My earliest book collecting consisted of about 15 “how to trap” booklets. Most of these small, thin paperback books were self published, short, illustrated treatises of the authors individual trapping methods. I eventually wrote several of these type booklets myself.

 

Yet the catalyst that kicked me into "full on" book collecting was visiting a website which showcased a rather extensive pirate book collection. I had an interest in pirate related books and materials and this website opened my eyes to the vast wealth of knowledge available on pirates and piracy, both historic and fiction. In fact I eventually bought that collection which became the base for my collection on pirates. This eventually spread to shipwrecks, treasure hunting and voyages of exploration. 

 

On this Collections Tab, I will List and illustrate MY TOP 20 CHOICES of titles to collect in the genre of  VOYAGES, PIRACY, SHIPWRECKS, TREASURE HUNTING, PHILIP GOSSE, OCCULT, BOW HUNTING AND TRAPPING.

 

These lists will be interesting and give the collector a good start as to books of which will give a sound base to the beginnings of a solid collection in these genres.  It should be noted that all of these books and many more constitute the basis of my complete book collection.
